Gamers are the biggest reason for the decline of the games industry. Entitled half-aware idiots demanding features that give them bigger and bigger hits of dopamine have driven the entire industry into the ground. The celebration of toxicity in the community hasn’t helped a damn thing, either.
It was, yeah. A lot of the infrastructure was still standing from when it was Oculus so it felt super detached from everything else.
As for the 80B, I can confidently say that a solid chunk of that went to software licenses, believe it or not. They were spending millions a year on their on-prem GitHub Enterprise server alone, which was technically redundant because the rest of Meta had an in-house Mercurial megarepo that, surprisingly, worked really well. They may have moved off of that by now, though, since I was last employed there in 2024.

The Intel Panther Lake chips apparently approach the same kind of battery life as the M-series chips, so the newer XPS machines actually look like a worthwhile competitor that’s capable of running Linux.
EDIT: The Framework 13 Pro also has a panther lake chip and promises pretty beastly battery life, so if OP is willing to wait, that might be a good alternative as well.

I’m not sure what you mean. It already had complete dominance of the smartphone market, which was, at the time, still growing.
The only IPO I ever jumped on was ARM Holdings, and that actually ended up doubling within a couple weeks. Made a tidy profit on it, then dumped it when it plateaued.
Usually Gartic Phone, but it was a very uptight company so playing that with my coworkers made it utterly impossible to do anything funny.
I used to work for a company that would do mandatory fun every Thursday at lunch. It was one of the least enjoyable things I’ve ever experienced at work.

I do, but a lot of them are actually pretty fond memories. I hate to say it, but it was a really good job. I was also on the AR/VR team, so my experience was a bit different from that of the rest of the company.

They were doing this as far back as 2020, as I recall. It was my least favorite part of going into the office because you had to reserve a desk, and you were never guaranteed the same desk on any given day.
I know some people who would actually kill for a physical T9 keyboard so they could touch-type. It’s not my cup of tea, but I can definitely see it being a major draw for people who grew up texting on a real flip phone.
They actually have three cameras in the main front-facing unit as of 2020. Before that, I believe they did still have 2.
You can absolutely tell the distance to an object with cameras if you use more than one. Our eyes do it all the time.
It could be the control arms. Older Model 3’s have famously shitty control arms that collapse all the time, but a lot of people don’t seem to notice until it gets really bad (myself included, unfortunately).
I would be curious to see if the same holds true for replacing Chromebooks with non-connected tech like dedicated word processors.
If the Democrats were willing to negotiate at all, this would be an excellent starting point. Sadly, they’re going to stomp their feet and hold their breath until the whole thing gets scrapped and we’re back where we started. Part of me wonders if that isn’t the point.
