yeah i feel you there. i’ve gotten a couple folks hooked on photogimp but i had to do the setup for them. it’s really simple now, but still a bit more imposing than a lot of newbies are willing to try.
at this point i prefer photogimp over cs6, which was my previous driver. ymmv though, my workflow is abnormal.

if you look hard enough you can find em used for $20, generally with a fine edge lol. $20 for a new knife is almost always gonna get you something less than ideal, unless you’re really picky with brands or can buy at dealer prices.
like i’d trust anything from morakniv to hold up wonderfully, and the risberg is only $19, or you could get a basic 511 or 546 for like $14. they’re one of the best values in fixed blade bushcraft style knives i reckon.
but outside of them, i don’t know that i’d trust much at that price point.
i mean, yeah? if you shape and profile it by hand, even shitty steel can be turned into a very useful tool. the question quickly becomes “is hours of my labor worth less than $20?” hahahah
if you’re fine with slowly destroying the serrations, the same way you sharpen any knife!
actually though serrations are generally only cut from one side, so you can very carefully sure up and hone the flat side. the opposite you would do with something like a flat ground tanto.
if you wanna be REALLY careful you can use a round sharpener that matches the size of the serrations and hit each one individually. this will also redefine their points if they’ve been dulled by less careful sharpening.
although since it’s also a cutco knife you can just send it to them for free sharpening, you just have to pay for postage.

that’s the funny thing, they’re legitimately fine knives. i worked at a restaurant that had been using cutco knives for years before i got there, and they held up better than certain “commercial quality” knives we got from our supplier.
they’re by no means “good”, but they’re perfectly serviceable and will last a LONG time. i used their ungodly 9” serrated carving fella as my goto veggie prep knife for literally 7 years. it was super predictable and i could butcher a pound of veg faster than anyone else on staff hahahah

this is the only gel pen i’ve ever been able to use as a lefty. refills are a standard size to they’ll work in lots of other pen bodies, in case you already have a favorite.
imo the best fountain pen for school is the preppy. snap-cap that’ll NEVER go dry, and they’re super easy to convert to eyedropper fill. i have one i still carry infrequently that i haven’t had to refill in literal years. the nib sizes swing a little closer to german than japanese sizes though, so expect fine to be more like a japanese medium. if you want a more durable clip, the prefounte is literally a dressed up preppy.
i seriously can’t recommend the preppy/prefounte enough. it’s the closest a fountain pen can get to replicating the convenience and reliability of a ballpoint IMO

as a teenager i did a lot of business with shady key resellers. now i’m missing an unknown number of games from my library as a result of chargebacks and fraud. i’m fine to buy them again, but i’m gutted that i lost all my playstats, achievements, cloud saves, screenshots, etc. i’m not even sure what all is missing :/
