Well strangely a lot of things are “it just works that way,” at least to our current understanding, like gravity, electromagnetic forces, things tending towards lower energy states. We could conceivably live in a universe where a ball doesn’t roll down a hill, it just stops where it is and retains its energy.

I saw something called the “fine tuning argument” that said there must be some higher power because our universe could not exist without those constants being what they are, but we also wouldn’t exist to experience it otherwise so ¯\(ツ)/¯

It’s hard to give an exact definition, but someone playing candy crush on their phone is meaningfully different than a LoL player. Not in elitism or whatever, but for example one is a game any person might play for a bit while bored, and one is a demanding competitive immersive game. I would say a good separation is the cozy / not competitive games with competitive games, since the competitive ones are the places most people think of Gamers not being accepting.

If you mean the relativity part, to my understanding space and time are basically a shared dimension, so the faster something is moving in space the slower it’s moving in time. Why it’s shared, I have no clue.

Their umbrella for antisocial behaviors is pretty extreme though. For instance the defederation you’re talking about, I believe it was because the sjw admin wouldn’t ban a user who said “trans women should be allowed in all sports, but the Olympics is a different case because small advantages matter much more there.” You can think that’s right or wrong, but I don’t see any universe where this is transphobic.

I saw right wingers raging (rarely), but there would be a post about Bernie sanders and every time there’s a hexbear user saying “this capitalist bootlicking swine, I never want to see his revolting war criminal face again.” And replied to all comments saying “wtf is wrong with you” with similar comments. Go check the thread of my instance asking if we should defederate, I can find it if you want. So many people who said “the toxicity from hexbear is overwhelming,” myself included.

You have to sit pretty strangely, like leaned back with your arm fully against your side so the weight of your forearm pushes into you rather than pulling on your shoulder. It does trade a LOT of hand strain for a slight bit of shoulder strain though.

Humans are born uninformed and the monkey part of our brains tells us that we are right and there is no deeper layer to “obvious” things. I’m just as mad when peoples default state is confidently incorrect but I try not to say anything mean, because hey maybe that was me at some point.
