Everyone unplug from the internet?

Everyone unplug from the internet?

Replace “school” with any place that ai is used and this headline holds true.
Edit: spelling

To me this title reads more like a capitalistic celebration of potential labor from an otherwise un-exploitable workforce, instead of a celebration of a major breakthrough in giving some semblance of dignity and autonomy to a person who was robbed of it by this terrible affliction.

Mine just worked. Didn’t install anything extra

Capitalism doesn’t understand limits. Whether or not they are there is irrelevant. Only profit gains exist, even when they cause losses.
It applies to all aspects of existence to them. Everything is something to be “leveraged” for growth.
They will use fancy trendy terms like “sustainability”, “net-zero”, “responsible” in an attempt to placate the masses, but deep inside the high level meetings for pretty much all of the fortune-500 corporations and beyond , non of these terms mean squat.
It is a curated maelstrom of ambiguity designed to obfuscate, deflect and thwart any perceived threat to profit.
Until that system is fundamentally dismantled, outlawed and abandoned completely. Things can only get worse.

Come here just to comment on the slam. Looks like you have to covered though.
Slam dunk!

It has a sickness. Now it’s getting a fever.
Which in turn means it has to eventually get worse. It’s the natural progression of capitalist ideals.
There’s only so much value you can squeeze out of a product before you have to start reducing quality to make more gains.

True, but recently it really sold out.
I left back when /u/spez first started getting unpopular for his bonkers antics. Trying to make things ready for the IPO.
The writing was on the wall for me.

I mean. What did we expect?
If it can be manipulated, it will be. To me, this is the price paid for selling out Reddit to the ai glut.
It’s not like Reddit was ever previously known as a great source for information. It was always full of confidently incorrect comments long before ai came along. Sure, it had good info too, but definitely not all good.
The AI companies will try to shift the blame for incorrect information anywhere else but where it should be. On them. With mostly stolen info to boot!
Wholesale processing user generated content online for factual data and expecting it to yield dependable results of any kind should be considered willful insanity.

By financially dragging anyone they can else they can in with them, in a desperate reach for riches. Or is it a desperate reach to try and cover their losses?
Probably both.

I feel the enshitification is still yet partially hinged.

Let the unhinged enshitification begin!

These articles go from panic bait to feel good news after you completely switch away from Microslop,

Advertisers need to be able to fingerprint you based on a combined measurement of the metrics you speak of. They aren’t interested in you per se, but you as a statistic, they are very interested in.
Advertisers are willing to pay more for accurate data.
Removing enough of these metrics to muddle the fingerprinting process would be bad business for everyone, so they all ride the line of privacy vs. profitability hoping we don’t notice.
I mean, that’s what I just came up with in my head in the moment anyways.
Now, off to forget I ever posted this!!

I think it’s best to read the actual docs published by the research when available. News tells some, but I have seen it sensationalized a few times, where it only affects x kernel with y module before update z.
That being said, these are seemingly getting more and more frequent as previously noted.

Still a short term win. Longer term, this will likely kill youth appetite for pursuing dev as a career option.

Translation: We are making it look like we are giving up on this, but really we are just baiting to get you to relax, while we roll out our brand new gaming exclusive AI offering called “Microsoft Gamerbro TM”!!
I get it. It’s not that everything was better back then, it’s that the things that were better, were way better.
It’s a feeling of profound loss at what could have been if capitalism didn’t win.
Bold of you to assume I do anything interesting enough to warrant the trouble.
