You better use a certified device or you get 480p@16 bits per second.
Ohh and HDCP. When I opened Netflix on my pc 2/3 monitors went blank, back when I still used windows.

Any android box you can recommend? I am looking for something without all the bloat, ads and privacy nightmare. I have a shield. It is pretty nice but still bloated and too bulky to put behind a TV.
Projectivity helps. Android TV should be open source.
A Fire TV went nuts today spamming my network with 60k mdns Pkt/s. It took down all my WiFi access points because the CPUs couldn’t handle it.

There are really cheap mcus that need maybe one capacitor if even that. It is cheaper, easier and more flexible than the multiple components required to configure an NE555.

Make phones 18+ to buy. Make it a legal requirement for parents to set up parental controls. Make parental controls not suck ass. Make the phone tell the website if child or adult no age brackets nonsense. IMO children don’t need access to all websites.
Still there are some issues where abuse can come from parents but hey if they wanted they could give their children alcohol too so that point doesn’t really fly with me.

Yeah this usual stuff would be nice but the trade off with privacy and surveillance is not worth the risk IMO. :(
I want a health bar.

What functionality are you looking for? Most I can think of is gimmicky at best.
Would be interested even in gimmicky use cases.

I think we really need a .docx.
Why not do all of the classic office file extensions?

I want to argue against that but that would take too much time.

Exactly some. We are so tight on ipv6 adresses a /48 would be ludicrous. Imagine me wanting some local networks.
This is something where ipv4 is actually better for my use. Also I have to hardcode the ipv6 prefix in so many applications and services - I dread ever getting a different prefix.

My wired carrier only gives me a /60 for ipv6 and they can’t do reverse DNS entries for ipv6. :(
At least I get an ipv6.

Oh man. I hope Dolby looses. Patents are way too long and benefit so few that I think they shouldn’t be justified/exist in society. Also some stuff should be decided in court to be essential technology and patents/claims should then be dissolved/voided.

Not saying that’s what’s going to happen. Just keep that in mind and maybe use this time to explore some other options. That usually doesn’t hurt and if push comes to shove moving won’t be as painful.
Generally if possible diversifying is usually a good thing no matter what.
In linux user and group names don’t matter. Only the gid and uid matter. Think of user and group names as human names like domains are for IPS.
In docker when you use mounts, all your containers that want to share data must agree on the gid and uids.
In rootless docker and podman the subuids and subgids make it a little more complicated since IDs get mapped between host and container, but its still the IDs that matter.
Take your thumb and gently push the eye back into shape from its elongated form. Push a bit and then check if your vision improved. Repeat until the focus point is correct. Be careful not to overshoot the sweet spot.
My first server was called xenon because I misread Xeon for Xenon but I decided to stick with it. My new server is called argon. For beefy servers I will now go with noble gases. Now that I think about it maybe I will use other elements in the future. Bismut sounds cool.
I have only one cloud VM and called it firstborn. 🤷
All my PCs get names I like Aveline, Elisabeth, Amanda, Amelie, Astrid, Eve…
I have yet to decide on a naming scheme for mobile phones.
Networking hardware gets descriptive names for their location and purpose.
It seems like it is not a lot of overhead if any at all. Also the hardware design easily accommodates it. So why not if the work is already done?
