I don’t dispute that, but can you point to the relevant law?

Technology@lemmy.world•Backflip: Apple now wants to train AI models with user data after allEnglish
32·7 days agoWe need smartphones that we can actually own and control. Root access with locked bootloader and good security.
I have used a lot of OnePlus devices, but can’t recommend it since OnePlus has exited EU market. I doubt their firmware support continues as before. OxygenOS 16 seems to have issues on many models.
It’s also getting harder and harder to root phones and get even basic Play Integrity to pass. Google and device manufacturers are closing up Android, and I don’t like it at all. Some manufacturers (Samsung and Honor?) don’t even allow unlocking the bootloader.
I don’t know what I would go for next. I’d rather not but new phone at all, it seems old ones are better. But maybe second hand Pixel with GrapheneOS, at least it has manual native call recording.
We don’t own the devices we buy anymore.

Technology@lemmy.world•Android’s next big feature turns your phone into a desktopEnglish
0·1 year agoTwo problems:
- No automatic call recording.
- Banking apps don’t work on GrapheneOS thanks to Play Integrity APIs, so you probably need to root to get them to work.
If you need to root anyway, might as well use BCR.

Feature, not an issue.
