Probably very little, its like how rehl being a commercial product doesn’t mean fedora isn’t open source. In the absolute worst case scenario distros can switch their base to Debian unstable.
Two things, one as previously mentioned the codebase is a mess and even the best developers working on x11 tend to introduce regressions (the xlibre dev isn’t so this is amplified). Second it absolutely is a conspiracy because red hat did everything in the power to save x11 until eventually they just kept using it (tbh it needed to be replaced two decades ago). As for your last point linux won’t have a future if its aggressively held back by an army of enthusiasts who demand things never change and fragmented until software support is non-existent.
If we ignore the deeply disturbing political views of the Creator the entire project is meant to be a statement. There’s a conspiracy theory that there was a grand plot to kill x11 by red hat and xlibre is built upon the idea that red hat was holding it back. This completely ignores the real issues that the codebase was pure spaghetti.

One of my favorite websites, damn 😔

Oh damn I’m still on revanced, imma check this out

I started using vim several years ago, I found out how to close vim but I could never quit 😔

You know what else doesnt stop AI? Adding characters that even the most basic AI can easily filter out.
Shockingly MacOS now supports hardware thats almost as old as the hardware Windows 11 25H2 supports. Now the requirements on the Windows side are Intel 8th Gen or newer or AMD Ryzen 2000 or newer (with some snapdragon chips thrown in there), meanwhile MacOS still supports the M1 which is at this point almost six years old.
(unless this is a refrence to how Apple used to charge for updates which they havent done for a very long time)

To be fair it does have a ton of extra costs for hardware features not everyone is going to use, I mean they have a standalone processor but most people are just going to use their PC.

I mean there’s some reason to be excited but also every reason to believe it’ll be deeply expensive

Tbh makes sense and this is a pretty massive sign of what’s to come. Most people simply don’t want to use VR headsets and with meta soon to leave the VR space I expect it to quickly become a technology relegated to hyper-nerds within the next five years (granted the grand majority of meta quest owners never actually use it).

Bold of you to say that on lemmy with all the nerds, def a hot take here. Of course if you ask any group of normal people they would all agree VR is an absolute waste of money with no value whatsoever. Watch as when the new Steam Frame releases it’ll be around $1,500 and you’ll hear nothing but positive things here.

Hopefully devs will soon be able to get dev kits, the rest of us probably aren’t getting it anytime soon

That would require implementing a level of drm that requires on online activation, first thats not cheap and second it would loose them a lot of good will
Its like transportations perfect form is trains

I have 32gb of ram and tbh most of it is wasted
Genuenly once they release federation I’m deeply considering moving the 196 chat there (I’ll probably keep the matrix chat but also have a federation bridge)
