I feel like the “make yourself think it’s critical” bit is the hard part.

I appreciate what wasps do for the environment, but I’m fairly sure that I’m genuinely somewhat phobic of them, presumably stemming from getting stung by one when I was like 3 or 4. It’s become more manageable to an extent as I’ve gotten older, but to this day, seeing or especially hearing a wasp nearby still stirs a bit of fight-or-flight reflex in me.
I don’t go out of my way to kill them unless they’re actively nesting on my house or something, but I do wish them a very “go do your thing, just far away from me personally.”

Games@lemmy.world•Forza Horizon 6 immediately beats its predecessor's all-time Steam record with 130,000 concurrent players – and that's only counting people willing to pay $120 for early accessEnglish
4·3 months agoAs someone who played a lot of FH5 on Game Pass, that never happened. The DLCs added new content, they never took away existing content and locked it behind the DLC. You must have misunderstood something.

Games@lemmy.world•What game do you personally have the most hours played in?English
2·3 months agoThe most that I can prove is Europa Universalis 4, just north of 1100 hours on Steam. However, I strongly suspect my playtime in Guitar Hero 3 from high school likely exceeds that. Runescape might be another contender, but that was so long ago at this point that I don’t really have a good idea of how much play time I actually put into it.
I looked it up, and it’s apparently closely related to the datura genus, so that doesn’t surprise me lol
If that’s datura, which it looks to me like it is, you don’t want any part of it. It’s pretty much universally regarded as giving one of the worst, most unpleasant trips imaginable, and its effects last at least 24-48 hours or even longer. It’s also just outright toxic depending on the dosage. It’s just not worth it.
IMO, smartphones had the chance to revolutionize the gaming industry, but ended up wasting almost all of that potential on skinner boxes riddled with ads and microtransactions. Most of the best mobile games are ports from other systems, like the mobile edition of Minecraft and whatnot.
I think Pokémon Go was possibly the closest any major publisher has come to actually realizing the full potential of mobile games as a format, but it still fell painfully short with massively dumbed down mechanics and an absolute grindfest of a progression system.
There are still a few good indie projects out there (I like Soul Knight) but generally the mobile gaming market is so full of absolute dreck that I usually just don’t bother.

I maintain to this day that they had barely started on anything relating to the actual game when the teaser was released, and it was entirely just an attempt to save face from FO76’s disastrous launch.
