No it’s recon like reconnaissance. They keep doing more archaeology digs and finding more recon about the true nature of the Spinosaurus forces.

32·1 month agoI mean, if done properly it is effective, it’s just not 100% effective, but no birth control is. But combining the pullout method with an IUD is going to be much more effective than an IUD alone, even though they’re already near 100%. Same with both control pills. Hell even if you’re raw dogging it with no birth control, it’s definitely a hell of a lot better idea to try to pull out than to just nut inside.
Yeah I don’t really buy arguments like this. When quilting was invented there was literally not much else to do, people had rare contact with a small number of other people, and limited means to stimulate themselves or pass the time. What’s autistic is still preferring these ornate, elaborate, complex hobbies over all the inane ways people pass the time these days. Most quilters from back in the day probably would have been perfectly happy to sit in Starbucks or walk around the mall or scroll insta or whatever the fuck normal people actually do with their time, they just didn’t have the option.

2·2 months agoI don’t have a 4k tv anyway, or surround sound speakers, or the storage for huge media files. The quality on these sites is 1080p which is good enough for me and my TV. A laptop and an air mouse keyboard and I’m good to go
*Edit I also can’t stand using an on screen keyboard so using the air mouse remote with a little keyboard on the back feels like luxury to me. I guess you can use a phone or computer to add stuff to jellyfin but usually when I want to watch something I wanna watch it right away

11·2 months agoHonestly pirating through the browser has gotten so convenient that I can see why people don’t bother with torrents anymore. I’ve known about torrents for decades, but these days, there are sites you can instantly stream any movie or TV show in 1080p with subtitles right from your browser. No need to add it to a queue or wait for it to download, no need to fiddle with srt files or resync subs… and for gaming, OMG. If someone has a steamdeck they can visit any number of reliable sites found on fmhy and download preinstalled/cracked game folders right from the steamdeck browser, extremely fast direct download speeds, and then they just have to add the exe file to steam as a non steam game. No need to run an installer through Lutris, or free up enough space for the installer and installation. Way faster and way simpler. Torrents are great for archival purposes but direct downloads through the browser are so much more convenient, and they pop up faster than they can be shutdown.
Sure, imagine if everyone who has a vitamin D deficiency was now also chronically malnourished as well. In order for your plan to work, people have to be willing to go outside and spend time in the sun…

Technology@lemmy.world•Age checks could turn internet into an ID checkpoint and would kill anonymity, Proton CEO saysEnglish
12·2 months agoIf this becomes widespread, I just won’t use any websites that require it. There will always be ways around it or alternatives for people opposed to losing their privacy. There already are at least 2 Internets. There’s reddit and Facebook and Twitter and all the corporate news sites, and then there’s Lemmy and archive.org and the dark web and dev pages and independent websites and piracy. I find I rarely care about the former anyway. It’ll just mean being blocked off from all the corporate slop, which may be a blessing in disguise.

5·2 months agoThis is part of the basis of a lot of simulation theory from what I understand. The way electrons behave under observation is very similar to the way a computer renders a 3d world. It doesn’t calculate or draw everything in the entire environment, simply what is under direct observation by the user(s).

Yeah everyone I’ve seen complaining about the launch had it on consoles. I played it on PC a couple days after launch and played through the whole thing in a week or so because I was off work, and don’t remember having a single crash or issue.
