I think it is! That means I probably have an ancient dead account on there, plus a second dead account from when tumblr made an annoying change. I remember liking it, but just never got into using it. There were a number of lj clones that popped up, but I think dreamwidth is the one I went for. They seemed the most organized and likely to stick around. Since it was founded in 2008, I guess I was right!

This is one of the ones that popped up when there was a mass migration off of livejournal, right?

World News@lemmy.world•Outrage after Indian man carries his sister's skeleton to a bank to prove her death
3·3 months agoA dollar is worth what you can buy with it, which varies depending on where you live.
There’s a hint in the article where it says the 200 is the amount she received for selling livestock after her husband’s death. Looking at livestock markets, you can purchase more in Odisha livrstockwise than you could in my local markets for that amount.
If you meant you wouldn’t dig up your sister’s skeleton and drop it off at the bank for any amount of money, I definitely get that though. I know people who would find the process so enraging that they would do it for a dollar, though. Grief hits people differently.

Technology@lemmy.world•The 5-Minute Rule: Why Your 'Toilet Scroll' Is Increasing Your Haemorrhoid Risk By 46%
1·4 months agoThat came out of nowhere after a bunch of already known but reasonable advice. Was it written by AI and not checked for misinformation, or is it just spreading the cell phone radiation misinfo in an organic, human way, I wonder?

People think it’s a spam post, maybe?
