You don’t know shit about me bro. Creepers gonna creep. If they want to hide a camera they can do it in lapel pin or something. Being paranoid about it won’t stop anything. Making legislation to require a recording light will just de-tune the public’s vigilance when they don’t see a light. It won’t stop people from taking discrete photos. If you’re scared of having your photo taken, stay inside. There are a huge number of automatic license plate cameras owned by corporations logging your plates. They may also be capturing and analyzing your face. That is a lot more concerning to me than some dude wearing glasses.

Me neither. In fact regardless of what’s on their face they can fuck right off.

You caught me. I go around with my wife and daughter so I can get away with being a creep. Don’t tell the moms on the playground.

It was a bit self-satirical. But it would be really helpful for me, if it existed. I’m not about to buy a face camera but I can imagine some people in sales might like such a feature.

There is no privacy in public, by definition of those two words. I’m less concerned about a camera on somebodies face, and more concerned about the legality of doing facial recognition, and identifying and tracking of people without their explicit consent. See one is about the personal utility of camera-interfaced computing, and the other is corporate espionage. But unless lawmakers can draw that line and enforce it, we will probably just end up with spyware.

There are plenty of legit use cases for a camera. Traveling in a foreign place the glasses could overlay text in your language. Looking at a transit table it could highlight the correct route and time. And anytime you meet someone new it could store their name and face in a database.

Oh well soon enough we’ll have directed energy weapons and drones with hypodermic needles. Maybe someday bullets will be obsolete.

They should just require all ammunition to have serial numbers etched into the casing and the slug. When ammo is purchased, it is attached to an ID. People keep their ammo locked up to avoid being framed. People can shoot the ammo with any homemade contraption they want. Problem solved - until people learn to make their own ammo. Obviously possible for shotgun shells, but maybe not feasible for accurate rifling bullets.
I have a 2tb ssd for my media server. I haven’t filled it yet, but I do sometimes delete things. Don’t tell anyone.

Amish or Rastafarian should pass as well.

Has this ever happened and led to a conviction? Seems far-fetched to me but I am privileged in many ways. I’m sorry that this is even a possibility in some places.

I suppose the nefarious use of that data would be targeted ads? Also, I track my wife’s cycles by observing the lunar cycle. Maybe some people are less regular or some people want more data logging but the moon is a pretty good indicator. Would recommend looking at it from time to time.

The biggest use case for Gemini is the enshittification of Google Search.

Publicly traded corporations do not have empathy. They have no loyalty to the employees, only to the shareholders and to profit. Why is this surprising to anybody? It’s not about Meta or AI, this has been happening for decades in tech and outside of tech. Mass layoffs are a part of capitalism in the USA.

Emby is jellyfin with extra support and development. The apps came out earlier and for more platforms. It supports IPTV. Theres some pretty responsive forum support. Jellyfin may have these things too, but I chose Emby at the time for its native WebOS app.

Joking aside, I do have a lifetime subscription to Emby, which shares a lot of the same code as Jellyfin. But the lifetime subscription was $99 which I viewed as a thank you donation to the developer(s). In the past 5 years or so it has been an excellent value.

What about those who are blinded later? Are blindfolds a cure for schizophrenia?

Don’t forget Pikmin and Splatoon.
You could see if you can get some old carpeting or rugs for cheap or free to hang along the wall facing the street. They have two features that block sound: complex geometry, and mass.
