  • “Xbox XP will be headed by Kayleen Walters, who previously spent a couple years as president of Minecraft studio Mojang and before that spent close to a decade in different brand and “franchise development” roles at Microsoft. Prior to that she spent 13 years at Lucasfilm, finishing her time there as vice president of franchise marketing and integrated planning.”

That’s disaster waiting to happen, all in that one paragraph. So you’re going to have someone spearheading this, who only knows Minecraft and Marketing. Yeah, good fucking job there, idiots. There is nothing there that speaks of being a director, a producer or even having a hand working staff behind a film. Just an annoying marketer who’s going to shove this shit down our throats. Wonderful.

  • So, saying ‘nobody uses X’ is a bit of a stretch considering that whenever it’s said, there’s proof to the contrary that people use said thing. People use lemmy at times, but the problem is as it has been pointed out before many times, is that lemmy is still too niche and small when compared to larger platforms.

One of the big reasons I can think of is, is that Lemmy just doesn’t have the span of community as someplace like Reddit does. You’re not going to find a Darts lemmy instance, you’re not going to find a MentalHealth lemmy instance or anything. On Reddit, there’s hundreds of micro-communities that cover a range of interests that anybody can join and talk about.

Lemmy only seems to focus on just a handful of things; Politics, Memes, Games, Piracy, Linux, News, Technology and Asking Questions. That’s great and all but, just about anyone has these in spades. Not everyone wants to cycle through those things on a daily basis, they’ll want something more. But it’s going to turn people off from Lemmy immediately when they migrate from Reddit.

Yeah sure, we can tell them to make an instance to cover that niche itch, but once it’s built, it can be months to even years before it gets attention. And nobody wants to spend time just running around like an annoying salesman to get people to join said instance just to feel better about converting someone else over from one side to the other.

Another reason is that - moderation can be ass. Yeah, some moderators on Lemmy have the mentality and maturity of an edgy 15-year old who spends too much time online for their own good. And we can all see it in plain sight on the modlog so I don’t even need to explain.

  • I honestly don’t plan to demo or wishlist this. However, I would love to see more games like this, about rebuilding a planet that’s been savaged by war. A lot of the time, we got games that are like Fallout where, the bombs already fell so it turns into just surviving the aftermath. We already have tons of games like that in a variety.

But we don’t have enough games where it’s like, the bombs fell, the aftermath sucks so okay - let’s rebuild it! Why not. More games like these can get people to think more of ideas of thinking past the point of these kinds of things whether it’s nuclear fallout or recovering from the damage of corrupt powers.

  • Some people can have a fatigue where they’re tired of just moving platform to platform. Communicating platforms is heavily saturated to where, nobody would feel that grand of a difference going from Discord to that platform when they can still do the basics. People still wouldn’t leave Facebook, even, despite that platform having largely corroded over the years.

Until Discord is like charging people to use it, people aren’t going to budge. In a world where your privacy is circumvented whether you know it or not, a lot of people just shrug their shoulders at you when you present alternatives all like “ehh, cool” before just resuming what they’re already using.

And this too will also be freaking online-only. I don’t know why I got Diablo IV, but I have it and I haven’t touched it. Because I once revisited Diablo III to see if I can stoke interest in it, to find that I had connection issues, then remembered “Oh right, it’s also ONLINE-ONLY”.

I’m sick of this shit being online only.
