I “do work” just fine on Arch but maybe I’ve just gotten used to the quirks and the DIY aspect of it. None of it is an obstacle to productivity anymore.
I do realize I’m not the average person and am some kind of freak that likes to take working stuff apart and put it back together for funsies.

I’m here because I DON’T want to have to read fucked up opinions. People here are mostly nice compared to mainstream platforms.
I’m all for difference of opinion, but not when one of those opinions is “we should oppress LGBT people” for example. 10-15 years ago, I’d have been more receptive to discussing opposing opinions, but shit has changed. A lot of those opposing opinions are now simply unacceptable to even entertain, because they’ve become a real, actual threat to my well-being. People aren’t discussing tax policy anymore, they are discussing imposing states of emergency to do some kind of purge on undesirables.
Some people call it an echo chamber, I just call it chilling and having fun with like-minded people. There’s nothing wrong with that. That’s what forums have always been.

In case y’all got the wrong idea, they’re still cool guys, and fuck Elon. It’s just that I’m past the teenage stoner documentaries of people being “deep” when explaining the science. That’s who Dr. Tyson seems to appeal to.
For some no-nonsense, no fluff science content, I’d recommend Sabine Hossenfelder and the PBS Spacetime series.
That’s what I’m trying to say though, I’m at the point to where it’s not a waste of time for me because I know immediately what to do if something goes wrong or I need to make some sort of config change or install/remove software. I’m no longer “tinkering” with it, I’m using it. It’s just as fast for me as it is for someone on a more “user friendly” OS.
In other words, I have scaled most of the learning curve cliff.
