Well, there’s fightcade. It’s an excellent platform that emulates arcade and console games from the '70s up through the Dreamcast era.
Dunno if it’s on Linux though. :/
EDIT: worth noting that its online MP has never had any connection issues, but it does have ranked matches, so you’ll see a lot of folks trying to be the best of the best, and that’s putting it nicely.

Feels nice to get some trade-in cash for my Roku tv. Digital TV with the local channels and YouTube more than satisfies.

USB-C controllers that plug into the phone’s charging port are also a good option. Just remove the protective casing and slide it in.
Been emulating for years with it, but it’s also good for mobile games that do well with controllers. BackBone is the first one that comes to mind.
Remember playing Mechwarrior 3050 on a SNES at a Funcoland. Top tier action right there.
