At the start of trading maybe. But what about by market close?
No idea
They realy aren’t, and don’t.
Tuta doesn’t have even half the user base, or services.
They aren’t bad at all. And I don’t doubt they’ll get there.
But they aren’t at all close yet.
Is it funny?
By a sizeable margin they’re the largest and most popular in the space. At the same time, that makes them the biggest target and most watched.
Someone even mentioned a possible smear campaign by Google. While there’s no evidence at all of that, they would be the most obvious target.
So it’s not really funny or odd in any way. It’s kind of obvious really.
Proton’s a good alternative.
There’s some confused allegations of them being MAGA Facists. But it’s a combination of misunderstanding and misrepresentation.

It’s just another affiliate link. Like many companies offer, anyone can sign up with their “Partnership Program” and generate an affiliate link to get a kickback on new signups. This isn’t a specific sponsorship or direct advertising deal that Proton sought out or directly paid for.
Proton offers 3 kinds of Partnerships.
These “SCANDALS” are just people signing up for affiliate links and then promoting them.

THAT makes sense!
Market manipulation

I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would put money behind this. I thought it insane when Musk first mentioned it. Can someone explain a single advantage of a space based data center? Even if it’s not worth spending this kind of money on.

Privacy is about activity.
Anonymity is about identity.
Security is about ensuring the other two.
I would say:
Privacy is everyone seeing you come and go from a house with no windows.
Anonymity is when you’re covered head to toe when you come and go. So nobody know who lives there.
Security is a measure of how good your locks and coveralls are.
Real world examples:
Going to a protest with a mask is anonymous, in public.
Sessions with your court appointed therapist are private, not anonymous.

So many people conflate privacy with anonymity.
They’re largely unrelated.

Most sensitive way to reply? Where’s the fun in that?
“Okay… I thought we knew that already?
You still in for this weekend? Or do you have like, official duties now?
I get it if this means you’re too busy to hang much anymore.”
Or you could play dumb.
“Cool!
What’s that?”

I’ve heard of a few politicians making noise in this direction. Though they seemed unaware of the fediverse, and had no actual plan. This appears to be someone’s imagination of how it could work.
Short answer is no. All new cars do it. Dealers can’t disable it all. It is what it is.
There are a few niche cars that don’t have all the tracking cruft, good luck getting one.
That’s a perfectly reasonable activity.
Shopping for what you want to do.

Yes there is also the subset of people who’ve thought about it, and might tell a pollster, but avoid pollsters if at all possible.

That’s how many are willing to admit it to a pollster, which is a subset of who thought about it. We don’t know how big the larger set is.

They’re old. They’re slow to adapt to paradigm shifts.
They were also lied to, and paid lots of money by these companies.
Then do whatever you feel like. It’s not about doing nothing. It’s about doing whatever you feel in the moment. Not NEEDING to do something you don’t want to.
Mostly I just want day(s) with no plans or demands. Maybe one simple thing at most. Sleep when I want. Watch a movie or do anything the mood strikes me to do. Sleep again. Whatever.
I know I’m better whe I don’t dread needing to go grocery shopping because I’m out of something.
That’s a very large range. But is has no context. Is this a lot or a little? What’s the total damage estimate? What the estimate for the other 90% of people?
