You don’t have to launch from the ground, there are many things that can be done to allow them to reach orbit. It’ll be an enormously bigger undertaking but the physics doesn’t make it impossible. No reason to think of it in terms of our current situation either, and we are behind our current level of possibly when it comes to rocket science, due to * waves at everything else *

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that a dirt-cheap pair of lab goggles can save you from crying while slicing onions
1·3 months agoSharpness of your knife, time spent cutting, how close your face is to it and I’m pretty sure just biological differences all play part.
I used to “cry” more from it when I was a teenager because my mom had shitty knives and I was just worse at cutting them so it took more time and I was shorter (obviously).
Now I only have any issues at all at home when I’m sitting down, which I sometimes have to due to bad knee and back.
And almost always get it pretty bad when I’m cooking with/for my mom and other family members at her place as she only has serrated knives, which makes it a lot worse, but she refuses to have anything else.
Never heard anything about that, got some info/links?
Thanks, now I imagined Rocky with perky titts.
A friend of mine had a party at her place on the most recent new years eve, there were several people who I hadn’t met before there and we quickly realised we were all Linux users and, of course, absolute fucking nerds (I mean that with pride and appreciation).
She is very much not a nerd in that way and most others there weren’t too. It took about 15 minutes before she threw her hands up in the air and said “guys, this isn’t fun for anyone else, if you really need to only talk about operating systems and shit like that you’ll have to leave. Everyone else wants to hang with you guys too but no one can if you keep this in-group thing going.”
And, yeah, we all understood her view. Of course we put up a playful fight though, first acting all disappointed and then saying “ok, ok, we’ll leave then. Have fun being all boring and stuff without us cool kids” etc. which it took her a while to realise wasn’t serious, heh.
For the rest of the night we had to stop ourselves several times from getting back into it, both among ourselves and with other people. All of it was great though, and made some new Linux geek friends!
MacOS is worlds better than Windows, it’s not even close.
This is crazy, I just woke up and I remembered I drunkenly installed a game yesterday but couldn’t for the life of me remember what the game was. I opened my lemmy app and see this close to the top and remembered it was dying light: the beast. I finished the second one a couple of months ago and wanted to take a small break before diving into the new one, while also letting some more patches be released.
I’m currently playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 too but I’m unsure if it’s for me. I see why it’s so loved but I’m not at all good with tight timing stuff and I feel the exploration is a bit lackluster.

0·8 months agoThe title sounds weird because it’s word gore, not because of the implied meaning. Try reading what you’ve written.
