6·2 days agoNot that hard to understand. They have an extremely large dataset to analyze for “subjects adjacent to these searches” and it returns “kayaking” among other things. Then just show ads for those related things. You ignore the things you’re not considering as background noise, and notice the ones related to your new hobby.

10·3 days ago<.< Let me just throw two scenarios at you real quick to show you why that’s a problem:
That third party can easily just use your connection to view and download CSAM and all external monitoring would suggest that activity was coming from within your network. Because it is.
That third party has full network access to anything your PC does (or at least that nic) which includes anything in your local network. Insecure IoT, other PCs, etc.

Constants are known at compile time, and therefore are more performant as they don’t need to be reasoned about at runtime.
These days it’s not much of a performance boost but never a bad idea to use constants where appropriate.

I know this options exists, but honestly I don’t think I have reliable enough infrastructure. It’s hardly ever offline, but my backup game is super weak, and I have had to rebuild from scratch once in the past three years.
What happens if I fuck up again and have to rebuild? Just feels like a massive potential failure point.

11·11 days agoEeeeh I have mixed feelings. I was the parent that had the ability to tack and log my kids, because I was/am heavily into tech. But the only time it was ever really used was “where the hell is [child] he never came home from school” or “what time did I leave [place]?” Or similar.
no notes.

Doubt. The law likely talks about making unauthorized recordings. There is likely nothing in the law that would disallow automatic transcription if no recording is created.
Unless the law is extremely vague such as “it is unlawful for a microphone to pick up conversations” the law likely doesn’t cover this situation.
I am more than happy (and eager) to be proven wrong, but in my experience the law tends to lag behind tech by quite a bit.
