Pretty sure that is it. A lotta people in response to seeing him decry certain technologies tend to say, “that uncompromising nature on privacy is why GrapheneOS holds up so well.” Which I gotta be real when I say that it really does make me feel more comfortable with GrapheneOS’ development. I can’t keep up with all news on it, I’m not wanting to completely audit all the source code, but having a development team led by someone like that does bring a sense of ease toward my phone.

Mitigation, not elimination. 'Cuz not every purchase uses a loyalty card that ties it to you, nor does every grocery store have facial recognition, nor do any grocery stores report their transactions to your card provider. Plus the (hopefully) most impactful, paying in plastic usually costs ~3% more.

I was gonna say, you can tell who’s just a cryptobro vs who actually cares about fiscal freedom based on that. If anyone suggests you use bitcoin, they probablyyyyy aren’t someone to listen to. Zcash and Monero are the only two I’d ever trust as of now.
Honestly, its a massive shame that a technology as good as crypto was completely usurped by groups just looking to profit. They chant “This is true freedom of finance!” while only caring how much USD it’s worth. Like dawg, that’s why nobody takes crypto seriously.

For reference of just how easy this is, most AR-15s that I’ve seen have been units built from individual parts, my own included. That’s kinda the AR-15’s whole schtick, is that it’s super modular and customizable, so much that a lotta people joke that it’s “LEGOs for adults.” It makes good sense, if company A makes a good upper, but Company B makes good triggers, so why not mix and match for the best of both worlds?

No shame if you’re one of these people, but I figured mostly everyone on Lemmy would’ve known about this sorta stuff by now. While many apps are just frontends for services, the presence of an app alone is enough to massively expand trackability of the user. Heck, its profitable enough for companies to force people to use apps that some services are forcing all mobile website visits to redirect straight to an app store.

Odysee has a lotta nice to haves, like filehosting, but I’ll be damned if most comments sections I see aren’t full of the craziest of people.

The title of this post seems to communicate that goal, even if it’s not the intent. It is worth noting that the article itself seems to read more as if Samsung is going through bad management decisions amid market turmoil. The current market demand on Samsung has some sectors performing with insane profits, yet others completely underperforming. This current topic is the offproduct of the statements of the lesion between the union reps and the company, to which this individual has already been replaced. They were pushing for a distribution of earnings based on how their respective sector performed.
Also not to be outdone, wronged workers are doing what wronged workers do best. A strike is planned for the near future, and Samsung is currently responding by cutting production quotas in advance. It is not a company wide strike, rather it is a strike of just the specific division of Samsung that’s getting lesser earnings. The union seems to see that amid the AI craze, their underperforming sector is at risk of being diminished, even if only temporarily.
I can add more, but I dont wanna interpret for others and I think I’ve done that enough already. Its not a long or bad read, y’all can see for yourself.

I think that’s a weird quirk of Lemmy in general, is that the lot of us tend to be much more accepting of differences. I haven’t exactly spent too much time around, but nobody’s mentioned my instance or ‘queerness’ in ill intent, even when disagreements happen.
But also if there are instances or groups created where a very large portion of said instance is bigoted, it’s very easy to just defederate and move on.

Tl;Dr: is that age verification laws are being pushed heavily, and Linux users are strongly against that sorta stuff. Most developers openly say they won’t comply, thus their software is in violation.

I mean, that’s where Silicon Valley is, so yeah.

In the US, that tracks with a higher-end salary. Call it an impulse thought, but I have a slight feeling that Silicon Valley has something to do with that.

One passed, the other has yet to be presented. These legislators have no clue how they’d even do it, but circumventing the scan is also made illegal.
So yeah, flashing Open-Source firmware is something they dont like either, but fingers crossed they just choose to not allocate resources to enforcement. Wouldn’t be surprised if this 3D printed missile mentioned in the article above comes up ad a taking point during the legislative hearings.

Washington state already started making moves against it, as an attempt to prevent 3D printed firearm components. Specifically, it requires 3D printers sold within the state to have firmware-based scanning to cancel prints it suspects are used for firearms, alongside criminalizing the possession of files ruled as ‘firearm compoments’.
One bill is in the House, the other passed into law. Gonna make it a real rough ride ahead for tinkerers into 3D printing, especially if we’ve gotta design around “Oh boy, I sure hope my pencil holder doesnt get flagged as an illegal item.”
Edit: One of two bills passed: HB2320 and HB2321. HB2320 is currently law, and HB2321 is awaiting presentation to the House.
Found out an hour ago that I’m running with the malware :/
