Cry me a river, Larry. I hope you die impoverished.

My definition of lawn includes clover I just don’t want it to be a monoculture. Some of the no lawns people are adamant about not having grass at all and plant thyme and other plants that handle a bit of abuse but not dogs playing ball.

No argument against that. It’s a status symbol for many people.

As a counter argument, lawns are a resilient, walkable surface that’s pleasant to sit or walk on. It’s great for children and pets. I haven’t come across a lawn alternative that is suitable for the load of dogs and children. But I don’t spray, and I do not use a gasoline mower.
I have my lawn bordered with a mix of native and nonnative ornamental plants and trees, forming about 30% of the available land.
Not unlike mammals, really (at the same age).

Demand for electricity will raise electricity prices, and demand for gas to run the electricity plants will raise heating costs.
Demand for RAM makes the price of even Rapsberry Pi go up. The AI bubble is the tail wagging the economy dog.

Heaven forbid their margins be lowered. 46% is barely scraping by!
I’ve looked into the frames a few times. They’re a bit of a niche product and I guess for elderly people because they absolutely max out at 1080p. The displays are awful.
Using the TV is a bit overkill in size but at least it’s hopefully a good display.

That drop is more than it’s worth.

Where in the world do you get Netflix for $2?

Certainly, but open source projects rely too heavily on the goodwill of volunteers who still need to feed their families. Hopefully Jellyfin’s incoming users contribute to the project.

Fucking cars. Especially Subarus and Toyotas, which have an unpleasant tone. They beep every button push on the remote, so unlocking all the doors is two pushes BEEP BEEEP BEEEP BEEEEP! Then people push the lock button more than once as they leave BEEP. BEEP… BEEEP!
My car doesn’t need to beep. I’ll turn around and look at it and see the lights flashing.
Also, my fucking dishwasher. If I program it to start in 5 hrs when electricity is cheap, and then add something, I have 3 seconds to add it before it soft cancels the cycle and I have to push a button to make it continue for some inexplicable reason. If I close it while it’s in this mode it beeps constantly for 20 seconds. If it wasn’t bolted down everyone in the family has had a time when they would have taken the opportunity to throw it out the door.
I can also relate to the chewing; if I’m eating it covets other’s noise and I survive, but I can’t stand hearing other’s mastication. Also breathing heavily. A family member has asthma and fucked up sinuses and refuses to see a doctor, so they just mouth-breathe panting all day long (and don’t have their phone silenced either).

Lifetime single pay subscriptions don’t make financial sense at all for a company. As much as I hate subscriptions, it’s the only way to get long term support, which software needs.

They’ve been hiding behind the chicken tax, aggressively marketing high margin pickup trucks that only appeal to the local market for decades.
They only make 40% of cars sold in USA. Chinese EVs may push them over the edge but they’ve been teetering there since the Japanese invasion in the late 1980s.

It’s been quite a while since I used iWork, but iWork is different than office. In some ways it’s a better product - the layout and formatting in Pages is worlds ahead of Word. It’s not a clone of the Office suite, which works to its advantage.

the Applied AI team is led by Maher Saba, a 12-year veteran of Meta who was previously a vice president in its Reality Labs division, the division that burned through $83 billion on the metaverse before Meta moved on to AI. The new organization reports up to Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth.
Serial grifters.

Social networks see the writing on the wall and want to create regulatory capture. If they provide the identify verification it is another hook into us.

It’s a game of thrones. Who pays better? Who will protect you the best?

N=1, so it merits further study. Imagine if we had studied shrooms instead of banning it along with cannabis.
Everything is more expensive. Leisure activities are early budget cuts.
