Let non-members represent themselves during contract negotiations, or be represented by the union if they are a member. The problem with non-members getting the same benefits as members is that there’s no motivation to be a member in the first place, which means the union has less funds and less negotiating power.

Union benefits shouldn’t be given to non-members.

24·23 hours agoIf Tesla is telling the truth about the driver’s behavior then yeah, sure, they are almost certainly in the clear here. However, they have definitely not earned the trust required for me to just take them at their word that such is the case, so the facts can come out in litigation.

34·9 days agoYou are magnitudes more likely to be shot by your own gun, be it by yourself or a family member, than you are to need to use that gun against a home invader. Thus, it’s significantly safer for you to keep your gun safely locked away where it can’t hurt you rather than leaving it accessible to protect from the much lower risk of an attacker.

World News@lemmy.world•LinkedIn Is Illegally Searching Your ComputerEnglish
12·2 months agoIt’s misleading because saying “search the computer” implies a breadth of scan that isn’t present. That’s like saying a website “searches the computer” to grab cookies generated by that site; technically true but worded to be misleading.
To be clear this is bad, but it’s important to be clear when explaining why it is bad to avoid creating resentment when the person you are explaining it to looks deeper into it themself and finds that it’s not as bad as your explanation was implying.
You have clearly and concisely explained the exact reason the US wouldn’t and couldn’t allow China to invade Taiwan (well, wouldn’t under a rational administration).
