Battle Chess, I haven’t tried it on Atari but it’s on so many platforms and it’s a lot of fun.
You reminded me I used to have (possibly still do) a copy of Terminator 2: Judgment Day - Chess Wars for DOS. There were so many ports and clones of Battle Chess.
Pretty sure Chessmaster 2000 was on Atari too (and everything else, including the Super Nintendo).
